After a zombie outbreak turns the citizens of Las Vegas into the walking undead, the city is shut off from the rest of the world by a wall of shipping containers. Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) is recruited by casino owner Bly (Hiroyuki Sanada) to retrieve $200 million dollars locked away in a vault under the Las Vegas strip if Ward can assemble a team, survive the zombies, crack open the vault and make it out alive. The zombies in Army of the Dead include the classic slow-moving Shamblers and an elite zombie type known as Alphas, who are smarter, faster and more organised. Alphas follow orders from their zombie leader Zeus. The Queen is Zeus’ partner, and along with the zombie tiger Valentine, can be seen patrolling the zombies’ terrority.
