| Video Discription | Freshwater fishes are critical to the health of our rivers, lakes & wetlands - and provide food & jobs for hundreds of millions of people. However, freshwater fish populations are crashing. Nearly 1/3 of freshwater fish species are threatened with extinction and 16 species were declared extinct in 2020 alone! Dams, habitat loss, pollution, and over use of water are threatening fisheries across the globe. The world needs to implement an emergency recovery plan for freshwater biodiversity, so countries can enhance the health of their rivers, lakes and wetlands, and secure the future of fish and fisheries.
